Based on 2,887 reviewsTsukishima Monja Tamatoya Hibiya is widely praised for its authentic monjayaki experience, offering a unique twist on traditional okonomiyaki with flavorful and gooey dishes that appeal to both locals and visitors seeking genuine Japanese cuisine. The restaurant is recognized for its warm and attentive staff, who create a welcoming atmosphere and often engage positively with patrons, enhancing the overall dining experience. Many appreciate the option to cook their own food or have it prepared by the staff, adding an interactive element that complements the casual izakaya vibe. While the establishment does not cater extensively to English-speaking guests or expect a high presence of international visitors, those who embrace the cultural experience find the food quality consistently satisfying. Overall, Tsukishima Monja Tamatoya Hibiya is valued for its friendly service, authentic flavors, and lively ambiance in the heart of Tokyo.
If you are looking for a place with an English menu and lots of foreigners inside, this is NOT it!!! This restaurant specializes in Monjayaki, which is like a gooey-er okonomiyaki (it has mochi in it), and it's delicious! The staff are extremely kind, and we had great conversations with Sakura and Haruto. Take a chance and order something you've never heard of — you might just love it :) Definitely a unique but delicious experience in Tokyo. I would highly recommend ordering the mushrooms.
Modanyaki (Okonomiyaki) tastes quite good! Very friendly and attentive staffs, especially there’s a staff called Mii who was very friendly and all-smiles!
Very cool izakaya that specializes in monjayaki. We came in after spotting a line the night before - everything was delicious! *I do think we may have gotten food poisoning after eating the oyster there... but we had to cook the oyster ourself, so I assume there was some user error here - as always, when going to a new place don't get something that no one else is ordering...
This is the best place for friendly and nice people with wonderful outstanding food! Our waiter name is Haruto and his English was wonderful and he was full of energy. Not only is the food great they cook it in front of you and if you want you can cook yourself.
